THE LAST OF US Video Game Opening Reimagined in 8-Bit

The powerful opening scene from the hit video game The Last of Us has been recreated to look like an 80s style 8-bit video game. It actually looks more like 16-bit, but I get what they're trying to do. In the end, the scene isn't as effective as Naughty Dog’s version. The sound effects and lack of speech kill the mood. It's still a fun watch, though.

The video comes from John Meehan, who used repainted backgrounds from Double Dragon and the end scenes from Street Fighter 2 to bring the the scene to life.

You have all probably been asking yourself: what would The Last of Us look like as an 8-bit arcade game from the mid-80's? Well, here's my answer to that important question!

See the pixelated end result below. I also included the original opening scene.

Inspired by one of the more emotional opening cinematics ever in a video game: http://tinyurl.com/pkc4ocl Have to give credit to the creators of the sprites I used and repainted to make this happen: Double Dragon sprites from T0misaurus and Belial, repainted backgrounds from Double Dragon and end scenes from Street Fighter 2.
