The Life of a Sitcom Wife Takes a Dark Turn in Trailer for KEVIN CAN F**CK HIMSELF
AMC has released a trailer for a wild-looking new series titled Kevin Can F**k Himself. The series explores the story of a perfect sitcom housewife whose life takes a dark detour when she decides that she wants to murder her annoying bullshitting husband.
The series basically take the whole formula sitcom theme and turns it on its head in a very unique and wild way. The series stars Schitt’s Creek breakout Annie Murphy as the wife, and it looks like she’s going to deliver a crazy fun performance.
The synopsis for the series reads: “This is a story about a woman who keeps playing a perfect housewife. Then, one day she realizes what she wants: to kill her husband.” The story “probes the secret life of a type of woman we all grew up believing we knew: the sitcom wife. It looks to break television convention and ask what the world looks like through her eyes. Alternating between single-camera realism and multi-camera comedy, the formats will inform one another as we imagine what happens when the sitcom wife escapes her confines and takes the lead in her own life.”
The series was created by Valerie Armstrong, who had this to say about the show in an interview with EW: “It’s not a show within a show. She’s not an actor. It’s just the way this world is presented. It’s like a lens. It’s a metaphor for the benefit of the doubt we’ve given men like Kevin forever. Men who get to like walk through life with a sitcom audience cheering them on all the time.”
Murphy is joined by Eric Petersen, Mary Hollis Inboden, and Alex Bonifer, and it’s coming to AMC in the summer of 2021.
