THE NUTTY PROFESSOR is Getting a New Film From ZODIAC and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Writer James Vanderbilt

The classic Jerry Lewis comedy franchise The Nutty Professor, which was rebooted by Eddie Murphy in the 90s is getting another reboot. This next iteration of the Nutty Professor is coming from Project X Entertainment, which is also producing Scream 5.

James Vanderbilt, the writer of Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man, White House Down, and more is producing the movie. No studio is attached yet as Project X is looking to package the film before they put it on the market. There’s no word on if Vanderbilt will also write the movie.

The original Nutty Professor follows “a nerdy professor who in order to improve is love life, drinks a potion that temporarily turns him into the handsome, but obnoxious, Buddy Love.”

I enjoyed the original Jerry Lewis movies, but wasn’t a fan of Murphy’s take on it. Those ended up being pretty forgettable. I can’t say that I care to see this comedic story retold again. But, let’s wait and see what their plans are for it.
