The Russo Bros. Also Want Anna Kendrick as Marvel’s Squirrel Girl
Ever since Anna Kendrick suggested that she might want to play Marvel's Squirrel Girl, the internet hasn’t stopped with it. It all started when she said this:
“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”
Soon after that, Edgar Wright sent out a Tweet saying, “Get @AnnaKendrick47 a Squirrel Girl film.” Now Marvel's Joe and Anthony Russo are on board with seeing Kendrick in the role. These are the guys who directed the last two Captain America films and the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, and I’d think their opinion really counts at Marvel Studios.
When talking to Yahoo about it, Joe Russo said, “It would be perfect casting, and we’re huge Anna Kendrick fans.” Don’t expect them to add her to the character line-up in Infinity War, though. They’ve currently got enough characters on the roster to keep them busy. Joe says that they have their “hands full trying to tell the story we have with our preexisting characters. Anthony would probably die from exhaustion if we introduced another character.”
With all of the hype surrounding Kendrick as Squirrel Girl, it makes me wonder if Marvel has actually had a conversation about it. I think it’d be great to see a Squirrel Girl movie with Kendrick, I know that my little girls would love it, and she’d make an incredibly fun addition to the MCU.
