Vintage Storyboard Art For Richard Donner's SUPERMAN: THE MOVIE

Richard Donner’s 1978 film Superman: The Movie is easily one of the best superhero movies ever made. I watched the film again recently after a screening of the documentary, Super/Man: A Christopher Reeve Story, and damn… I was once again reminded of how insanely great that film is. Christopher Reeve is the perfect Superman.

If you’re also a fan of the film, I’ve got something here for you to see that you’re going to appreciate. Below you’ll find several original vintage storyboards for the movie that were created by legendary artist Ivor Beddoes.

18 of these storyboards will be on display at an event called the California International Antiquarian Book Fair, which takes place February 9-11 at Pier 27 in San Francisco. Peter Harrington Rare Books is hosting the collection, which originated from the private collection of author George Locke.

Art in the images focuses on the film’s opening scenes on Krypton and provide a really cool and interesting look into the film’s production. They’re also for sale if you have $31,600 to spend!

In addition to the Superman storyboards, the display at the event also includes rare editions of The Lord of the Rings, The Little Prince, and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?.
