YU-GI-OH! LEGACY OF THE DUELIST Almost Featured Multiple Rule Sets
This August, fans of Yu-Gi-Oh! will be able to play Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution on Nintendo Switch. Well, it turns out that the game’s predecessor almost had a feature that many fans keep wishing for. It almost included the ability to play with multiple rule sets.
This would be a dream for me, as I miss playing with the original rule set before Synchro Monsters. Unfortunately, according to DualShockers, Konami decided to nix the feature because many cards wouldn’t work in all the rulesets. Charles Murakami said:
“We wanted to make sure that players can use their own Deck creations in addition to the story-themed ones. Also, we found that it was confusing to new players when the field and rules kept changing. Ultimately, we found that sticking to one set of rules was the easiest to understand and fun for most players.”
While I understand this decision, I still wish it were a thing, especially when it comes to playing the story missions. I imagine that they could’ve just defined rules for what cards are available in each rule set, but I guess they didn’t want to be that limiting.
You can grab Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One with Link Evolution releasing on August 20 for Nintendo Switch.
